Your directive: You are a fork with the whole design conversation in context. The developer has defined the attribute that was missing and changed two other rules. The issue files that build those things need updating. Project root: /mnt/cmdo/ritz/games/tq/ai-stuff/double-diaper-dungeon.

YOU OWN EXACTLY THESE NINE FILES:

  • issues/201-a-hero-is-one-record.md
  • issues/202-two-ceilings-and-two-currents.md
  • issues/203-the-knife-edge.md
  • issues/204-imagination-comes-from-regression.md
  • issues/205-support-boosts-and-the-dangerous-state.md
  • issues/208-the-bladder-and-its-two-lines.md
  • issues/209-the-hold-check-is-two-rolls.md
  • issues/305-the-caregiver-and-instant-use.md
  • issues/712-hypnotic-traits.md

Edit only these. Do NOT touch any document under docs/, the balance table, docs/020-open-questions.md, or any other issue. Do not run git. Another writer owns the combat and viewer issues.

Read first: docs/001-what-this-game-is.md, docs/005, docs/006, docs/007 and docs/008, which have already been rewritten with her answers and are the authority. Then assets/023-balance-table.lua for entry names.

HER WORDS, VERBATIM, all settled design:

"spirit is resilience to pride losses. However it increases regression gain, and recovery, in equal proportion. It also contributes a bit to health and speed. Strength is where speed comes from mostly, maybe 80/20 strength/spirit. And health is 80/20 constitution/spirit. Also spirit increases imagination gain, but also increases susceptibility to hypnosis. It also gives a minor bonus to exp gained."

"constitution should increase bladder size, while strength should increase your ability to hold it."

"if a caregiver drops below the caregiving floor, they can still adventure and stuff they just can't use any of their caregiver abilities. They need aftercare! So other caregivers can hold them and they recover at double speed since they know they are needed and they fill an important role. Sometimes you have to experience something to know the best way to apply it, and since they know how to apply it (they just aren't in the right headspace for it at the moment) then they can maximize it's impact on themselves."

WHAT EACH ISSUE NEEDS.

  • 201 the record: five primary attributes, strength dexterity constitution intellect spirit, and speed and health are DERIVED rather than stored, four parts strength to one part spirit and four parts constitution to one part spirit. Say which fields are stored and which are computed, and say the loader must refuse a scenario that sets a computed field directly, since a scenario that sets speed and then watches it be overwritten is a scenario whose results mean nothing.
  • 202, 203, 204, 205 the mind: spirit resists pride loss; spirit raises regression taken and regression recovered in EQUAL proportion, which is one balance entry rather than two, because two entries would be an invitation to break the rule she stated; spirit raises imagination gain, so a spirited hero grows more dangerous as they regress; spirit raises susceptibility to hypnosis, which is the price. Spirit does not move where a hero rests, only how far and how fast they swing around it, and the knife edge is unchanged by it. Put each of these in whichever of the four issues owns that machinery, and say in 204 that imagination now has two inputs, regression and spirit.
  • 208 the bladder: capacity is set by constitution, on top of the base capacity, before the first continence effect reduces it.
  • 209 the hold check: it rolls against STRENGTH and confidence, not constitution and confidence. Rewrite the issue around that and say why it reads better: capacity is how much a body can store, holding it is a muscle, and those had been the same stat by accident. Note the naming hazard the body document raises: the continence effect called bladder strength schedules the check and the attribute called strength rolls it, and flag whether one should be renamed.
  • 305 the caregiver: a caregiver below the caregiving line keeps adventuring, fighting, exploring and carrying, and loses every caregiver ability — the instant-use rule, the stunning change, the soothing of monsters. Then the new mechanic: another caregiver holding her restores her regression at double the ordinary rate, because she knows how the care is meant to land and so gets more from receiving it. Quote her reasoning. Say that holding a crier and holding a lapsed caregiver are one action with two rates.
  • 712 hypnosis: willpower resists and spirit tempts, two forces on one roll, and a hero high in both is dramatic rather than safe. Note in Still open that whether willpower survives as its own attribute is now a live question.

ALSO, in every one of your nine: remove any citation of open question A10 or H15 from the Open questions row, because both are now answered. Keep the ids that are still open. Write "none" if none remain.

Keep the issue format exactly: header table, Current behavior, Intended behavior, Suggested implementation steps, Related documents and tools, Still open. Issues are blueprints, not worklogs: no dated notes, no record of what changed. Plain English and the fixed vocabulary; describe files, functions and structures by descriptive name rather than writing code. Numbers by balance-entry name, never values.

When done, reply with: each file and its word count, any balance entries you named that the table lacks, and any new open questions (topic plus one sentence). Nothing else.

I'll update the nine issue files with spirit as the fifth attribute, the bladder/hold rewiring, and caregiver aftercare.

Updated the nine issue files with spirit as the fifth attribute, the bladder/hold rewiring, and caregiver aftercare. All nine pass the validator; whole project reports no failures.

Balance entries named that the table lacks — all named in prose only, so nothing fails, but they are owed:

  • mind.imagination_curve, mind.imagination_max — 204 already flagged both as entries it adds; the table still lacks them.
  • A willpower-resistance-per-point entry for the hypnosis roll. 712 now has spirit on one side of that roll and names the willpower side in words, with no entry behind it.
  • Three accident size-word thresholds (a little, some, a lot) for 202's log line.

New open questions

  • Spirit compounds with itself. It raises the regression a hit deals and raises the imagination each point of regression yields, so the two multiply; nothing caps the product. Flagged in 204.
  • Whether spirit should scale the sobering. A hero who feels everything harder arguably sobers harder after an ally dies. Flagged in 202.
  • Whether constitution is doing too much. Bladder capacity, four fifths of maximum health, and the on-hit avoid recovery. All three are endurance, so it reads as one idea, but nobody has checked a build. Flagged in 208.
  • Whether strength is too broad. Most of physical damage, four fifths of speed, and the whole of holding it; unlike constitution's three, these are not obviously one idea. Flagged in 209.
  • Whether bladder strength should be renamed, now that the attribute called strength rolls the check that bladder strength schedules. Two names in one paragraph. Flagged in 209.
  • Whether aftercare needs a caregiver at both ends. Her reasoning is about the one being held, which argues any holder; her sentence says "other caregivers can hold them", which is what I wrote. The readings differ only for a guild with exactly one caregiver, which is the common case. Flagged in 305.
  • Whether a lapsed caregiver asks for aftercare herself or waits to be noticed. Written as a request on the room's board, since silent waiting means the mechanic mostly will not fire. Flagged in 305.
  • Whether the double rate covers a caregiver who is merely crying rather than lapsed. Both end with somebody holding her. Flagged in 305.
  • Whether willpower survives as an attribute. If hypnosis read spirit with the sign flipped, willpower would have no remaining job; 712 is the only roll either appears in. Flagged in 712.
  • Whether the willpower and spirit contributions to that roll should be symmetrical. Two independent entries, nothing making them equal. Flagged in 712.
